Essential Skills for the Next Generation
This six part interactive, experiential and skills based program is designed for 5th and 6th graders.
We give students the opportunity to learn, understand, integrate and practice five key skills that allow them to be effective leaders in their schools, homes and communities.
Progressing through cooperation, communication, expressing feelings, appreciating diversity, and resolving conflict, each skill builds on the previous one to fill a tool box for students using real life examples, open conversation and tangible activities. The program offers take back activities to be used at home and in the classroom. Peace Squad culminates in a student driven project to increase peaceful activities in the school community. The program also offers support to teachers through
easy, meaningful techniques to incorporate the curriculum into the classroom.
We work with you to:
- Reduce conflict in the group by teaching students to work together cooperatively and seeing the positive values of differences.
- Strengthen student’s ability to acquire observation, listening and other communication skills to reduce conflict.
- Build understanding in students around ways to discuss their feelings related to conflict and other difficult situations.
- Support students in acquiring the skills and understandings they need to resolve conflict independently.
